Crossroads Community Events

For my Victoria readers… have you heard about the “Warriors Helping Warrior’s” project?  Our Senior Warriors from Victoria West High School are working with the Warrior’s Weekend folks to help sell commemorative flags for the Field of Honor this year, which will once again be displayed at Faith Family Church.

This year you can celebrate a hero and help a student at the same time.  If you’re interested in purchasing a flag to honor a Veteran, contact the school or one of the Seniors and they’ll get you the paperwork.  All proceeds from flags sold by the Seniors benefit both Warrior’s Weekend and West High’s Project Graduation.  For more information, you can also check out the Warrior’s Weekend site at http://warriorsweekend.org.

NBMS Cheerleaders!

As many of you who called this weekend know, we were closed on Friday for the Comal County Fair parade.  Every year all the kids in town get the day off from school, and the fair parade passes by the front of the studio.  It’s so crowded but it’s so much fun!  We have a great view (with air conditioning) from the studio windows.  ;)   This year we took advantage of the early morning time before the parade to do portraits for the New Braunfels Middle School cheerleaders before they had to go and meet their float.  We started very early and had to work fast to make sure we got the best light, but they were so organized and we got everyone’s portraits done in record time.  These girls were so much fun to work with!  Good luck this year, girls!

NBHS Homecoming

Mark your calendars: this year we will be open for portraits before the New Braunfels High School Homecoming Dance on October 11th.  You’ve spent a lot of time (and money) finding the perfect outfit — don’t settle for snapshots out in the front yard!  Save this moment in time with some quick and beautiful keepsake portraits at the studio.  The dance starts at 8, so our downtown loft studio will be open from 4-7 so you can drop in, have a snack, hang out with friends, and have your portraits done before you go to dinner or to the dance.  We’ll have a great set that is way more modern and stylish than anything you’ll find at the school or at other studios in town.

NBHS Cheerleaders

If you were photographed on the first Tuesday, your pictures will be in later tomorrow afternoon and will be available for pickup on Thursday. If you were a Thursday person, they will be available on Friday. Please let me know in advance when you want to come by and get them so I can make sure that someone is there at the studio for you.

Still cheering…

Thanks to all the girls who were in today! And thanks for trying out the new chalkboard wall. :) I’ll see you all again next week for the squad pictures.

In other news, for my New Braunfels readers… did you know that our beautiful new Target is open? I visited very early this morning because the studio needed a new vacuum cleaner, and WOW. It is so clean, and it smells so good and NEW, and best of all — the pretty new carts all drive straight. For now. Those of you who have known me for awhile know how much I love “Tarjay,” so this is a big deal to me. Maybe later this weekend I’ll have time to really explore (and yes, I realize that I should not be so excited about a discount department store. But it’s Target).

For tomorrow: more cute kids on the blog. Really.

Quick post. Busy week.

I will blog some photographs this week.  I promise.

I just wanted to say a quick (but heartfelt) thank you to the NBHS cheerleaders who were in yesterday!  Y’all were so much fun, and so sweet and polite, and it was great meeting all of you.  Shoot me an email (or have your moms send me one) at info at shelbylane dot net, because I have a MySpace/Facebook sized image for each of you… that goes for the Monoceras too, if any of you are reading this.  I will see more of you on Thursday, and again, if you have not booked an appointment, please call or email me asap to get on the schedule for this round.  Our August round will be BUSY and I want to make sure that everyone can get the time they need.  Phone hours are 10-5 Tu-F at the studio, so if you call after that, I will not get your call till we are in the next day.

To everyone else: I am booked solid this week, and by that I mean that I’ll be in the studio with clients or on location or in meetings from early in the morning until pretty late in the evening all week.  If you call and get voicemail, I’m sorry that there’s not a real person to talk to, but I will call you back as soon as I get a free moment.  Several of you have email today.  :)   Things will smooth out a bit next week if you’re calling about needing an appointment!

Teams: The NBHS Monoceras and Mystics

This is my second year working with the New Braunfels High School Monoceras and Mystics dance teams, and it’s always such a great experience for me as a photographer. They are so organized, and sweet, and they’re always always ready for picture day. These girls are really creative with their poses for the individual pictures we do in the spring, and it’s so much fun to see what they’ve come up with. This morning, we did the group shot for their new squad. They had to go back to practice afterwards, but we got the squad pictures and button shots done in record time because they were so prepared. Thanks, ladies, for always being so easy to work with! And thanks, Kellie, for directing such a great group of girls.
